Basel (Switzerland) – Switzerland wishes to explore available opportunities to boost economic and trade cooperation with Morocco, a stable and advanced African country, said on Saturday Swiss economy minister Johann Schneider-Ammann.“We have a huge potential to develop and we should find a way to reinforce cooperation ties,” he told MAP on the sidelines of the 99th Basel International Fair where Morocco is a guest of honor. The Swiss official met on Friday with minister delegate for foreign trade Mohamed Abbou on the sidelines of setting up the Moroccan stand at the Fair. “We have chosen to honor Morocco, a country among the most developed ones in Africa that enjoys a very stable political system and has a variety of products and services,” Schneider-Ammann said.He described as strong and excellent the Moroccan-Swiss economic relations, based on a free trade agreement concluded in 1997 and other similar agreements between the Kingdom and other states and regional groupings. He added that both parties should promote investment in other industries besides the sectors of food processing, pharmacy, machines and tourism.
